However, Bitcoin is his primary target. Trump even went on to say that Bitcoin should be regulated because it is a “terrible thing” and that it is “going to have a bad effect” on the United States.

Donald Trump spoke about bitcoin in an interview with Fox Business on Monday. In response to a comment that he doesn’t like bitcoin and wouldn’t invest in it, Trump said the cryptocurrency looks like a scam. He recalled that when he was president, the price of bitcoin was only $6,000, much less than today, adding: I don’t like it because it’s another currency that competes with the dollar. I want the dollar to be the currency of the world. That’s what I’ve always said. The former US president also spoke about bitcoin in response to questions about recent cyber attacks on major companies. During the interview, he repeatedly stressed that the currency should be the dollar. He stated that when you have these things, you know what happens, you really lose something. He added: It distracts from the dollar and its importance. Trump repeated: My opinion is that the currency of the world should be the dollar, and I don’t think we should have all the bitcoins in the world: I think they need to regulate them very, very high. Trump has never been a fan of Bitcoin. In July 2019, while still president of the United States, he made a series of tweets about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general: I am not a fan of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies that are not money and whose value is highly volatile and based on air. Unregulated crypto assets can encourage illegal behavior, including drug trafficking and other illegal activities. The former president also has his eye on Libra, a proposed cryptocurrency project of social media giant Facebook. The bowl is now called Diem. Trump’s tweet said: Facebooks virtual currency scale will be unstable and unreliable. If Facebook and other companies want to become a bank, they have to get a new banking license and follow all the banking rules, just like other banks, at home and abroad.
